✳01 / THE PERSON
Grounded in people.
Driven by possibility.

NATHAN HOLTSCLAW
Executive leader.Student of what comes next.
I’m most at home where people, purpose, and complicated problems meet.
As Executive Director for IT Finance & Administrative Operations at the University of South Carolina, I bring together financial strategy, people, procurement, facilities, and governance to help an institution move forward.
My work has included rebuilding business services, helping return talent and capability to the university through insourcing, and leading AI governance while supporting a campus-wide ChatGPT implementation for more than 40,000 users.
What connects it all is a belief that leadership should leave people and institutions stronger. That means asking better questions, creating clarity, and following through when the work gets difficult.
I’m also an EdD student. Staying curious is part of how I lead.
People first.
Listen closely. Make room for others. Build the trust that makes progress possible.
Purpose in practice.
Connect the daily decisions to the bigger reason the work matters.
Progress that lasts.
Build the capability, clarity, and confidence to keep moving forward.

03 / THE JOURNEY
Still learning.
On purpose.
Returning to school is a choice to keep growing. My doctoral journey is a chance to examine what I believe, challenge what I assume, and bring a more thoughtful perspective to the work I do.

What am I
taking for granted?
Our experiences shape our judgment. Intentional open-mindedness begins with recognizing the assumptions we bring to our work.
What changes
when we listen?
Leadership gets better when we make space for perspectives that challenge our own and let what we learn influence what we do.
Who benefits
from the change?
Progress needs a human measure. I keep returning to what our choices mean for employees, students, and the communities we serve.
Our job does not define us.
We define it.
